Key Stage One and Two Students have a fully differentiated curriculum matched to the needs of each pupil using an experiential curriculum called Equals.
“I develop my BSL expressive and receptive skills through topics linked to The World About Me such as; Festivals, Food, People, Weather and Seasons.
During essential sessions out in the community, I work towards appropriate individual targets linked to; My Communication, My Independence and My Thinking and Problem Solving.
I am suitably challenged to develop my levels of engagement throughout curriculum areas such as My Art and My Play and Leisure.
PSHE is a separate curriculum that I access on a weekly basis and I am involved in termly, whole school, PSHE days which help to develop my understanding and awareness of current topics.
I have regular access to Speech and Language, OT, Physio and Audiology support and programmes whenever it is necessary for me. If I am a student with MSI needs, I get the very best support by caring MSI trained intervenors which is exactly what I deserve. They know how to create and adapt a sensory curriculum that is personal and relevant to me.
All of my learning feeds back into my individual EHCP that is written and reviewed specifically for me by the team around me who know me best, at home and in school.
Most importantly, I am supported by familiar adults who communicate regularly with each other, know me best and want me to achieve my very best whilst feeling motivated every minute of my school day.”
